We are all in this together.  It’s a refrain I’ve heard many times over the past few weeks, and it’s the approach we are taking at Ferndale Market in the midst of such uncertainty.  As food producers and retailers, we find ourselves at the intersection of the supply and demand concerns, as well as the very real worries surrounding COVID-19’s impact on our broader community.  In that spirit, I want to provide an update on our COVID-19 plan at Ferndale Market.

Most importantly, you should know that our on-farm market remains open and is well stocked. We are coordinating with all our local food partners and believe our short supply chain is a tremendous asset during these days of disruption.  Additionally, we are now offering curbside grocery pickup and local delivery. You can place your order for either option on our website. 

Please know that we have added additional cleaning and sanitizing of all carts, door handles, and hard surfaces in the market.  Our staff is wearing masks, practicing social distancing, hand washing, and following our standard policy of staying home when sick. 

On the wholesale side, we continue to fulfill orders as usual and are working quickly to support our retail partners through this time of increased need.  We feel a strong sense of partnership with our retail, restaurant, college, and school customers who have had their lives turned upside down. In a time of perceived scarcity, we don’t foresee any shortages on our Ferndale turkey products and are doing all we can to get our turkey into retail channels quickly.

We are in the food business, and intend to remain open during our regular store hours and assist our customers and partners in any way we can.  As an extension of our community approach, we are partnering with local restaurants to provide free meals to out-of-school students and our response will continue to be guided by what’s best for our community.
